The Bengali superhit cinema Prithibi Amare Chai released in 1957 under the banner of H N C Productions had the top star cast of the time: Mahanayak Uttam Kumar with the ever-beautiful Mala Sinha as the lead pair, with Asitbaran, Chabi Biswas, Tulsi Chakrabarty, Anoop Kumar, Chandrabati Debi, Manju Dey, Sandhya Rani, Pahadi Sanyal, Renuka Roy, Aparna Devi, Sukla Das, Santosh Sinha, Gangapada Basu, Tarun Kumar, Shyam Laha, Dhiraj Das, Ajit Prakash and others.

The blockbuster was directed by Niren Lahiri with music by Nachiketa Ghosh. The Story and script were by Bidhayak Bhattacharya.

The unforgettable film songs included Geeta Dutt's "Nishi Raat Banka Chand" and the Hemanta Mukherjee's "Prithibi Amare Chaye". Also in the movie's soundtrack were "Neelam Wala Chaw Aana", "jhorer bandhon chereyi jodi" and "durer manush".
